Privacy Policy – NS: Industry & Infra Survey

Effective date: 06/11/2026 · Version 1.0

This privacy policy explains what information the NS: Industry & Infra Survey mobile app ("the app") collects, why, how it is protected, and the choices available to you. The app is operated by Invest UP, Government of Uttar Pradesh ("the Department", "we").

1. Who the app is for

The app is for officers authorised by Invest UP to survey infrastructure in industrial areas. Accounts are created and issued by the Department; you cannot register for an account in the app. The app is not intended for the general public or for children.

2. Information the app collects

Information When it is collected Why
Username, password and one-time password (OTP) When you sign in To verify your identity and keep your account secure.
Precise location (GPS latitude and longitude) When you take a survey photo and when you submit a survey To record and verify that the survey was carried out at the site.
Photos taken in the app When you take a photo during a survey Evidence of site conditions. Each photo is stamped with the address, coordinates, date and time, your name as the officer, and the app name.

Crash reports Only if the app crashes or reports an error To find and fix problems in the app. Crash reports contain technical details; survey values are removed from database errors before a report is sent.

The app does not collect your contacts, messages, call logs, browsing history, or payment information, and does not show advertisements.

3. Permissions the app uses

You can withdraw a permission in your phone's settings at any time, but survey photos and submission need them to work.

4. How the information is used

Information collected through the app is used only for the Department's official survey and monitoring of infrastructure in industrial areas, including verifying site visits, reviewing contractor work and following up on issues raised. It is not used for advertising, sold, or used to build marketing profiles.

5. Who the information is shared with

We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.

6. Information stored on your phone

After you have signed in once with a network connection, the app can be used without one. Surveys and photos are stored on your phone until they are uploaded, and a survey stays on the phone until it is submitted or you discard it. If a survey has been fully uploaded, signing out keeps it on the phone. If part of it is still waiting to upload, you can sign out only by discarding the survey, which deletes it from the phone after you confirm. Your sign-in session and your profile details (name and mobile number provided by the Department) are kept in the phone's secure storage. Uninstalling the app removes stored surveys and photos from the phone.

7. How the information is protected

8. How long the information is kept

Survey records, photos and related information submitted through the app are kept by the Department as official government records and are not deleted. Crash reports are kept by Firebase Crashlytics only as long as needed to diagnose problems. Information on the phone is kept as described in section 6.

9. Your rights

You can ask to access or correct your personal information through your reporting officer at the Department. Survey records submitted through the app are official government records and are not deleted on request. If you are not satisfied with the response, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app changes. The updated policy will be published at this address with a new effective date.
